World Opera Day 2026: Uniting Voices, Building Bridges
This year on 25 October, we are calling to action! Opera Europa’s efforts will focus on raising awareness about World Opera Day within the European institutions, and make opera a recognised economic and social force.
We invite you to join our campaign and reach out to your elected officials locally, regionally and nationally.
How to get involved? Engage with your politicians!
To make the case for opera, companies are encouraged to identify key decision-makers within their governing bodies to engage and involve in the World Opera Day campaign.
By September/October, a ready-to-use comms kit will be shared, including:
- Adaptable letter templates including data from our annual member survey (or local statistics for other parts of the world), highlighting opera’s vibrancy and economic contributions, to address to your politicians
- Press releases to amplify the message via your press/media channels
- Vignettes designed for large-scale sharing on World Opera Day itself, ensuring visibility and impact.
“Opera Connects” campaign
In the current international context, opera, as the most art, is a tool to transcend borders, languages, and cultures. In 2026, World Opera Day will shine a spotlight on opera's role in building bridges, fostering cultural relationships and supporting diplomacy.
A global social media campaign “Opera Connects” will invite companies and artists to share stories of international collaboration—from co-productions to the cross-cultural careers of singers. Powerful data on worldwide partnerships will underscore opera’s unique ability to unite diverse voices and genres, proving that art is a universal language.
Join us on World Opera Day and let’s make 25 October a catalyst for change, connection, and celebration!
