Helsinki will be welcoming a large group of opera professionals this spring, as they host Opera Europa’s Co-productions joint forum, bringing together the Technical & Production, TechSet, Costumes, Make-up & Wigs, Artistic Administration & Producing and Dance forums for 5 days of overlapping sessions.
The core of the discussions will be rich and diverse, bringing together the concerns of all these departments in pulling off artistic collaborations. The programme is being built in collaboration with each of the forums’ steering groups, and will include plenary sessions, joint forum meetings in different combinations, and parallel specialised sessions. Naturally, concerns over sustainability and the use of digital tools in processes will link this meeting to our Next Stage capacity building sessions in collaboration with FEDORA.
It is not just a happy coincidence that participants will attend a performance of Mark Anthony Turnage’s Festen, a co-commission between Finnish National Opera & Ballet and Royal Ballet & Opera Covent Garden, which will serve as an illustration of the main conversation. They will also be treated to the premiere of the ballet Pulssi, followed by a rave party for the brave.
Opera Europa’s Opera Management Course goes to Tallinn on Saturday 25 April, and participants of the OMC are encouraged to attend the joint forum meeting in Helsinki as prelude.
Registrations are now open and the full programme is available in the sidebar. Please note that all member participants are welcome to attend all forum sessions without limitation to the topic.
