The Teatro Regio is one of the most important opera houses internationally and, with its three centuries of activity, one of the longest-lived in Europe.
It was inaugurated with the name Regio Teatro di Torino in 1740 and immediately became an international reference point, hosting the world premieres of two masterpieces by Giacomo Puccini: Manon Lescaut and La bohème, and the Italian premiere of Salome by Richard Strauss.
The theatre's main activity is the Opera and Ballet Season between October and July, to which are added the Symphonic-Choral Concert Season, the busy programme of educational activities for children and young people, events organised in collaboration with local institutions, and conferences, guided tours and exhibitions.
All events that place the Teatro Regio at the centre of Turin's cultural and artistic life.
