Ukrainian theatres have been bombed and promising artistic careers, at best, put on hold. Opera Europa and OperaVision hereby launch a fundraising campaign to support career development opportunities for Ukrainian opera professionals, with secondments for Ukrainian artists (singers, stage directors, repetiteurs…), and administrative and technical staff. They will be hosted by volunteer theatres from our 222 member opera companies in 43 countries, and will return empowered to shape and rebuild the cultural landscape of Ukraine.
World Opera Day on 25 October will be the opportunity to put the spotlight on a Ukrainian opera with the stream of The Golden Crown on OperaVision and the contributions of 6 opera houses from around the world. We hope to encourage donations through the stream of this beautiful opera of Ukrainian composer Borys Lyatoshynsky. Thanks to Finnish National Opera & Ballet, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Royal College of Music, Polish National Opera, San Francisco Opera and Lviv National Opera for their contributions!
While OperaVision continues to offer a free service thanks to the support of the European Union's Creative Europe programme, it now encourages to give generously to its fundraising campaign to support the next generation of opera singers and managers from Ukraine.
Opera Europa is pleased to have become a partner of the Transnational Giving Europe platform, a network of 20 leading European foundations that enables crossborder philanthropy in Europe by securing solution for tax-effective cross-border cash donations. If you are donating from Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Spain or the United Kingdom, you can claim tax benefits! All other donations go through our GoFundMe campaign on this page.
